Gas, Electric and Water Utility Response and Training Experience
URTA Partners working as Independent Consultants, were instrumental in taking a major electric utility from an internal incident management system, with problems when dealing with other agencies and other organizational units within the company to where they are today; “A leader using ICS in the Utility Industry”.
URTA partners mentored utility managers, supervisors and other employees into their dual responsibilities, their regular utility job plus members of an Incident Management Team (IMT) or Incident Support Team (IST).
We are not aware of any other company which has a thorough understanding of how to get a utility company from where they were in 2010 using an internal incident management system prone to problems in large incidents to where they are in 2018, proficient in the use of the Incident Command System utilizing several experienced Incident Management Teams.
URTA partners experience provides an ability to recognize a private company’s internal needs and processes, and adapt ICS to meet the company’s needs.
URTA has the proven ability to take nationally recognized FEMA ICS curriculum and adapt to company’s needs (I-300, FEMA certified, but with utility specific designed exercises).
URTA the proven ability to develop curriculum to assist the company with external stakeholder interaction (Utility Agency Representative- AREP and Liaison Officer Courses).
URTA’s ability to develop specially designed exercises, from Tabletop to Full Scale, to improve the company’s response, with an evaluation system recognized as the national standard.
URTA Partners have worked hand in hand with utilities on incidents for decades as well as for utilities as they have begun developing incident response management capabilities.
URTA Partners have worked at the highest levels of Incident Management as members of Type 1 Incident Management Teams in positions including Incident Commanders and Operations Section Chiefs.
URTA Partners have experience serving as ICS Subject Matter Experts- SMEs, for major oil spills including Deepwater Horizon, for electrical restoration efforts after hurricanes including Katrina/Rita, the 2017 Puerto Rico restoration and California Wildfires as well as curriculum development for several national training programs.
